February 2026 Web Cafe Highlights
On February 25, our monthly Free Web Cafe brought together a vibrant group of learners from India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan for a spine-tingling journey into the mysterious side of Japanese culture... right from the comfort of their homes on Zoom!

🧟♀️ Fun, Frights, and Friendly Faces
The highlights of the session was our interactive games--drawing and role plays! Participants got creative as they drew scary characters, and everyone tried to guess what each drawing represented. Laughter and surprises filled the virtual room as interpretations ranged from hilariously cute to truly creepy!

👻 Exploring Japanese Ghosts and Legends
Beyond the games, we dived into the fascinating world of Japanese yokai, yurei, and school urban legends. Learners discovered superstitions, traditional ghost stories, and the subtle differences between yokai and yurei, enriching both their cultural knowledge and Japanese vocabulary.
💭 What Participants Loved
Feedback from our participants reflected the warm and interactive environment of the session:
“The drawing section and guess-what-it-is!!”
“I love how interactive the session is.”
“Since this was my first time joining a webinar about learning Japanese, I was a little shy to open my camera and talk. But as the web café went on, I felt comfortable speaking with others because the teachers are very friendly. I also enjoyed listening because of how interesting the topics were.”
“It was really a great experience.”
It’s clear that our Web Cafe is not only about practicing Japanese, but also about making connections, having fun, and exploring Japan’s rich cultural stories.
