September 2025 Web Cafe Highlights

People around the world see different shapes on the moon. šŸŒ™ šŸ§”šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸŒ’ In the West, many say they spot a ā€œman in the moon.ā€

🌳🐸 In some parts of Asia, others see a toad or a tree.

Ā šŸ‡šŸ” But in Japan, it’s a rabbit pounding mochi. This fluffy friend took center stage in our latest Web Cafe!

This September’s FREE Web CafeĀ explored everything moon-themed—from the beauty of the Harvest MoonĀ to the timeless folktale of Princess Kaguya, and of course, the global phenomenon Sailor Moon. We even chatted about sweet traditions like enjoying dangoĀ while moon-viewing. šŸŒ•šŸ”āœØ

šŸ’¬ What participants said

  • ā€œThe anime topics like Sailor Moon kept it fun. All the topics were engaging!ā€

  • ā€œIkeda-san did such a great job facilitating the breakout rooms. The slides were cute, easy to follow, and she even translated them into English so everyone could join the flow.ā€

  • ā€œI really enjoyed meeting native speakers and practicing listening. The mix of folktales and anime made the experience both fun and cultural.ā€

One participant even suggested having short reading materials ahead of time so learners can prepare for the discussion—great feedback we’ll keep in mind! šŸ™Œ
