Yesterday, I introduced hydrangea as the flower of this season. I saw a news report that the iris festival will be held on June 11 (Sat.) and 12 (Sun.) at Chikozan Park in Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, as irises are also at their best in the middle of June. It is said that there are as many as 5,000 different colors of iris flowers, including white, peach, purple, blue, yellow, etc., and combinations of patterns such as shibori (tie-dye) and cover-dye. At Chikozan Park, irises begin to bloom in early June, and approximately 2,600 irises of the Edo, Higo, and Ise types are in full bloom and can be enjoyed.

さて、昨日、この時期の花として紫陽花をご紹介しましたが、花菖蒲も6月の中旬が見ごろになるので、6月11日（土）、12日（日）に花菖蒲まつりが埼玉県狭山市の智光山公園で開催されるとのニュースを見ました。 花菖蒲の花の色は、白、桃、紫、青、黄など多数あり、絞りや覆輪などの模様の組み合わせで5,000種類にも及ぶといわれています。 智光山公園では、6月上旬から花菖蒲が咲き始め、江戸系・肥後系・伊勢系など約2600株が咲き誇り見て楽しむことができます。
